With the Rangers' surprising season in the books, let's take a look at the season on a position-by-position basis.
2015 No. 3 starter
The guy: Colby Lewis
The veteran righty who's been a bulldog for the Rangers since 2010, despite missing the better part of two seasons with injury, was once again the glue that helped hold a mangled starting staff together through the first half of the season.
He faded down the stretch and finished the year with a 4.66 ERA, but he did win 17 games (for whatever that's worth) and also led the Rangers in innings pitched with 204 2/3 — a career-high and his third 200-inning season as a Ranger.
Lewis is a free agent and might've thrown his final pitch as a Ranger, but I hope not. You can do a whole lot worse than him and his veteran presence as a No. 5 starter, which is all the Rangers would want him to be if he returns in 2016.
Overall, we'll this position a solid B+ for holding down the fort through the first few months of the year until Cole Hamels arrived and Derek Holland and Martin Perez returned.
