13-Year-Old With Brain Tumor Signs With Texas Wesleyan Baseball

Texas Wesleyan University held a special ceremony Monday afternoon.

The Rams baseball team signed 13-year-old Jaiden Mehta to a letter of intent.

“It’s a college baseball team so it’s really cool to be a part of it,” said Mehta.

The Keller resident, who is battling a brain tumor, will attend Texas Wesleyan practices, games and other team events.

“Just being in our dugout and communicating with some of our players, he’s been able to teach our players what he’s gone through and our players are able to relate to him,” said Rams head baseball coach Robert Garza.

Mehta connected with Texas Wesleyan through Team IMPACT, a Boston-based non-profit that connects children facing serious and chronic illnesses with local college athletic teams.
