10 Thoughts From the Cowboys' 28-17 Win Over the Kansas City Chiefs

ARLINGTON, Texas - Here are 10 thoughts on the Cowboys’ win:

*   The Chiefs scored two touchdowns and a field goal on 10 possessions. They entered the game, leading the NFL in scoring percentage (49.4 pct.). The Chiefs had scored on 43 - 22 touchdowns and 21 field goals - of 87 drives this season.

*   Alex Smith threw his first interception of the season, spanning 294 passes, in the fourth quarter, when Jeff Heath made a nice play attacking the ball and came up with the turnover. It’s the third straight game the Cowboys have had at least one turnover.

*   Terrance Williams had one of the best games of his career, tying his career-high with nine receptions. He also had 141 yards receiving, the third-highest total of his career.

*   Ezekiel Elliott had 93 yards on 27 carries, the seventh time in eight games he has had at least 80 yards and the 21st time in the last 22 games he has done it. That’s outstanding.

*   The Cowboys limited the Chiefs’ big-play trio of Kareem Hunt, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce to 207 yards and two touchdowns on 26 touches. Those are nice numbers, but below their average of  34 touches and 274 yards per game.

*   The Chiefs, who led the NFL with 35 plays of 20 yards or more, had just three plays of more than 20 yards in 55 snaps.

*   Each of Dak Prescott’s three runs for 27 yards were meaningful. He scored a touchdown and picked up two other first downs.

*   Punter Chris Jones did a terrific job of directional punting to limit Tyreek Hill to one return for no yards and three fair catches. He averaged 39.0 on five punts and dropped four inside the 20.

*   Taco Charlton recorded the first sack of his career, and it was an important fourth-quarter play.

* Sean Lee was terrific with 12 tackles, including two for loss, for a defense that hasn’t yielded more than 20 points in the last three games.
