U.S. Rep. Hall, 90, Says 2014 Campaign is His Last

Ninety-year-old Texas Congressman Ralph Hall -- the oldest person ever to serve in the U.S. House -- says his 2014 campaign will be his last.

The Rockwall Republican filed once again for his House seat Dec. 9 -- along with five Republican primary challengers. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that Hall said on Dec. 20 that it will be his last campaign.

The World War II Navy fighter pilot says internal polling showed that when asked about someone running at 90, a sizable 20 percent of people would be against him based on age.

He told the newspaper, "That helped me decide that this should probably be my last time."

But Hall, first elected to the U.S. House in 1980, is confident that he can win in 2014.
