No Property Tax Hikes in Dallas City Budget

The latest budget for the city of Dallas includes no property tax hikes but does include a bump in water rates.

City Manager Mary Suhl said better than expected property values and sales tax revenues helped.

Even still, some Dallas recreation centers and pools will close and park maintenance staff will be cut again.

Additionally, more than 100 civilian city employees will lose their jobs.

"There are cuts involved in it, but not in the areas of public safety or streets or critical services. I also think it's conservative and that's appropriate," said Suhm.

Dallas city council members must approve the budget by Oct. 1.
