Is There a Correlation Between Taxation & HS Grads?

Texas ranks near the bottom of all states in taxing and spending per capita, but is dead last in the percentage of adults with a high school diploma.

The rankings are according to a study being released Tuesday by a legislative panel made up of Democrats. The study, "Texas on the Brink," ranked the states based on various functions of government.

Texas has the highest percentage of uninsured children and ranks near last in the amount of state and local money spent per student in public schools.

Democratic Rep. Garnet Coleman, chairman of the Legislative Study Group, will present the findings Tuesday.
