The Texas Supreme Court has removed the last hurdle for the Green Party to be on the Nov. 2 statewide ballot, dismissing a challenge brought by Democrats.
Texas Democrats had already agreed to drop their efforts, making Friday's ruling little more than a formality. The court ruled last week the Green Party could be on the ballot while the case was pending.
The state Democratic Party has alleged a Green Party petition drive was a plot hatched and supported by Republicans to pull liberal votes away from Democratic gubernatorial nominee Bill White.

Democrats say they will continue separate efforts, in a lower court, to sue for civil penalties.
