The effort to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act may not be dead after all, according to one North Texas congressman.
U.S. Rep. Michael Burgess was in Denton for a town hall meeting Thursday, and he said he's still planning to get it done.
"Still working, still working. There is still time on the clock," Burgess said. "Had several discussions with people today, 'Is there a way forward?' And I think that there is. That is one of the things we will work on when we get back in September."
Burgess heard from constituents about health care frustrations and Washington politics for an hour-and-a-half. About 200 people attended the event in the gymnasium at Braswell High School.
Those who were the loudest grilled the congressman on the ongoing Russia investigation.
"You have to speak up. If you don't speak up, then you allow somebody else to talk for you," Bill Reed said.
Burgess took each question that came his way, and although there were many detractors, others in the crowd came to support the congressman's positions.

"Big fan of Dr. Burgess," said Steve Creiver, of Denton. "I just want to be here and get involved."
This was just part one for Burgess, who has another town hall scheduled for Saturday at 9 a.m. at The Colony High School auditorium.
