Dubya and Laura Make History

Museum to honor iconic Texas couple

The Texas State History Museum Foundation will honor former President George W. Bush and Mrs. Laura Bush with its History-Making Texan Award next March. The couple will receive their award at the Foundation’s Sixth Annual Texas Independence Day dinner.

Dubya’s Dad was given the same award years ago, as were: Walter Cronkite, Van Cliburn, Dr. Michael DeBakey, Lieutenant Governor Bill Hobby and Lady Bird Johnson.

The History-Making Texan Award recognizes Texas icons whose contributions to the state and the nation were truly historic and exceptional in scope as deemed by the Foundation.

The awards ceremony will take place in The Bob Bullock Texas State Museum, which opened with a formal dedication by former President George W. Bush nearly a decade ago.

Proceeds from the evening will benefit various educational programs and special projects of the museum.
