Devine Beats Medina in GOP Race for Supreme Court

Devine faces no opposition in Nov. election

John Devine has defeated Texas Supreme Court Justice David Medina for the Republican nomination for a spot on the court.

Devine, a former district judge, faces no Democratic opposition in the November election for the Place 4 seat.

Devine received attention while he was a judge for fighting to keep the Ten Commandments on display in his Houston courtroom.

Medina had been on the Supreme Court since his appointment by Gov. Rick Perry in 2004.
