Cruz Scheduled to Respond to Attack Ads

Cruz will hold a news conference at 8:30 a.m. to address attack ads by his opponent

U.S. Senate candidate Ted Cruz is holding a news conference with three of the tea party's top voices to respond to attack ads by his opponent, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst.

Cruz is appearing Friday in Dallas with U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, Jim DeMint of South Carolina and Mike Lee of Utah.

Later, he has a rally in Houston with ex-Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Cruz and Dewhurst meet Tuesday in a runoff election for the Republican nomination to replace retiring Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Dewhurst has attacked Cruz's Houston law firm's representation of a Chinese company in an intellectual property dispute with an American tire manufacturer. He also has highlighted Cruz's past legal work for a Pennsylvania developer embroiled in a judicial corruption scandal known as "kids for cash."
