Yemen Crisis Disrupts U.S. Fight Against Al-Qaida: Reports

The the rise of Shiite rebels and collapse of the government in Yemen has forced the U.S. to halt some counter-terror operations against al-Qaida there, Reuters and the Washington Post reported Saturday. Yemen's U.S.-backed president, prime minister and cabinet resigned abruptly on Thursday amid armed unrest led by Iran-backed Houthi rebels who stormed official buildings in Yemen's capital. The collapse of the government has "paralyzed" America's counter-terrorism campaign against al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, a key wing of the terror network, two U.S. security officials told Reuters.
