“Mad Men” Draws Mad Ratings in Premiere

Mad Men Mania just keeps growing and growing.

The much-anticipated return on Sunday night was the most-watched episode ever in the show's four seasons.

More than 2.9 million viewers checked in to the Sunday night premiere episode called "Public Relations," according to EW.

That was up five percent from last season's 2.76 million people who watched last season's debut episode.

Is it any wonder, given the amount of hardware the show pulled in during award season last season? The show took top series in the Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild, the Writers Guild and the Directors Guild.

The show had everything. Our first look at the new ad agency Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. And most importantly, it had loads of Don Draper, played the sublime Jon Hamm. The premiere episode immediately focused on the perplexed face of Jon Hamm as he puzzled with the question, "Who is Don Draper?"

After blowing off a reporter during the lunch interview, Draper never looked back -- knocking his ex-wife's lover, his employees and even subtly dissing his former boss. A little Don Draper goes a long way. A lot of Don Draper (and a healthy portion of Roger Sterling) makes for must-watch television.
