Tyson Farms, the nation's largest meat producer said it has terminated its contract with an Oklahoma farm after NBC News showed the company undercover video of workers kicking, hitting and throwing pigs and slamming piglets into the ground. The owner of the farm also took action after seeing the video and has fired the employees seen in the video. An activist from the animal rights group Mercy for Animals shot the video from mid-September to mid-October. He worked undercover as a farmhand at West Coast Farms that supplies pork products under contract to Tyson Foods. The group said the callous treatment of animals violates a state animal cruelty law and contradicts Tyson's livestock treatment policies. The undercover worker told NBC News that the abuse was "commonplace and constant" at the farm. After viewing the video, the owner of the farm, Lonnie Herring said "he had a renewed commitment to animal care."
