Macy's recently debuted its latest designer collaboration under its Impulse label -- with Italian brand Alberta Ferretti -- at an exclusive event in a Meatpacking District restaurant. The collection is set to hit stores on April 17.
At the party, models posed in pieces from the collaboration under a lush tree, next to cages housing live doves.
Alberta Ferretti's Macy's collab was inspired by "a summer spent on the Amalfi Coast, fresh and bright evoking the spirt of my beautiful country," the designer said in a statement.
The department store has been churning out designer collaborations at a rapid rate -- working with everyone from Karl Lagerfeld and Doo-Ri Chung to Giambattista Valli and Matthew Williamson.
Ferretti was born in the coastal town of Cattolica, where she has a country home, so the inspiration behind the collection was close to home for the designer.
Some of Ferretti's signatures -- including draping -- are evident in this collection. The designer is particularly well known for her bias-cut chiffon evening gowns.
The collection includes 30 pieces in total, from peasant tops to one-shoulder gowns -- all for less than $120. This dress will retail for $69.
Prices overall range between $49-$119. This coral one-shoulder gown will retail for $99.
The collection will be available in fewer Macy's stores than past collaborations (185 instead of 220 stores). This maxi-dress will retail for $109.
Colors will include orange, pink and teal offset with muted whites, tans and watercolor florals. This dress will retail for $99.
Fabrications were a focus, including chiffon, crochet and voile. This tunic will retail for $49.
Macy's Group Vice President and Fashion Director Nicole Fischelis said that Alberta Ferretti was targeted as collaborator because of her appeal to both American and International shoppers. This dress will retail for $69.
Standouts from the collaboration include ultra-feminine pieces like this floral skirt, which will retail for $69.
A colorful tunic from the collaboration, priced at $79.
A strapless floral dress -- perfect for a garden party -- for $79.
Macy's hasn't yet managed to hit on the high profile success that mass retailers like Target and H&M have with designer collaborations, despite having some impressive names attached. Still, the department store chain believes they bring a woman into the store who isn't a typical Macy's shopper. This crochet knit top will retail for $79.
The collaboration hits stores on April 17th, so the focus is on floaty, warm-weather looks like this feminine white dress, which will retail for $119.
