Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller are trying to make their marriage work, a source close to the couple told Access Hollywood on Wednesday.
According to the source, the pair flew home together late Monday from their court hearing in Aspen, Colo., in Charlie's private plane, sitting in the back by themselves and talking things out.
"They are lovey dovey again," the source said, adding that the two each wanted to work on their marriage.
Brooke, who recently spent a week recuperating from an infection and a bout with pneumonia at the Two Dreams Outer Banks facility in North Carolina, plans to look into inpatient rehab facilities, while Charlie is doing an outpatient rehab treatment, the source claimed. Access has reached out to reps for Sheen and Mueller for comment on our source's statements, but has not yet heard back at this time.
Brooke's main problem is drinking, then drugs, the source claimed to Access.
"She's going somewhere to work on her sobriety and health," the source claimed. "He's staying in town and has to stay sober. So maybe their marriage can work if they both stay on track."
The source further added that Charlie left the set of "Two and a Half Men" on Tuesday claiming he was suffering from vertigo. He was back at work on Wednesday.
On Monday, an Aspen judge modified the restraining order that was preventing the pair from having contact. The actor was officially charged with one felony count of menacing, a misdemeanor count of assault in the third degree and a misdemeanor count of criminal mischief over the 2009 Christmas Day incident that saw him arrested. The star – who did not enter a plea – is scheduled to appear in court on March 15.
It was revealed at the 15-minute hearing that Sheen has been taking anger management classes since his arrest.
The couple has two children together, twins Max and Bob, who were born last year.
In a follow-up to a story reported last week, there have been no new developments in the case of Charlie's car being stolen from (and later found in a ravine near) the actor's home. However, Access has obtained these new photos taken today of the vehicle.
