‘SNL': Host Chance the Rapper Pays Tribute to ‘Second Bests,' Alec Baldwin Returns to Spoof Trump's Colorado Gaffe

Chance honored his hometown as the “Second City” with a rap song dedicated to all the “second bests”

Chance the Rapper was both the host and musical guest in this week’s “Saturday Night Live.” The Chicago native came out for his monologue wearing a t-shirt supporting the Chicago’s Teachers Union, whose members are currently striking for higher pay and better working conditions.

“To the teachers in Chicago, I know you guys are on strike right now,” he said. “I fully support you. I just wish that when I was in school, my teachers had gone on strike.”

Chance continued to honor his hometown as the “Second City” with a rap song dedicated to all the “second bests” that he prefers over firsts.

Alec Baldwin returned to reprise his role as President Donald Trump and wasted no time making fun of the president’s latest gaffe — his pledge last week to build a wall in Colorado, which isn’t a border state.

Baldwin sets the scene at a parody Trump rally in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

“Hello New Mexico, by far my favorite Mexico,” he said. “So great to be here in the great city of Albacore, tuna capital of the United States. I came back for a surprise rally because I heard they’re building a wall on the border of Colorado, to keep the New Mexicans out.”

Cecily Strong, Mikey Day, Aidy Bryant and Pete Davidson are brought up on stage to portray fervent Trump supporters. Kate McKinnon plays a sympathetic Sen. Lindsey Graham and Alex Moffat chimes in as a wide-eyed Mark Zuckerberg, a shout out to the Facebook CEO's testimony to Congress earlier this week. ‘SNL’ alumni Darrell Hammond and Fred Armisen make cameos as Bill Clinton and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“Erdogan and I are such good friends now,” Baldwin’s Trump says.

“Yes, it’s like when Franco and Mussolini would take vacations together,” Armisen quips back.

In this week’s “Weekend Update,” Colin Jost lambasted Trump’s cryptic tweet from late Saturday night. “Something very big has just happened!” he tweeted.

“With no further explanation,” Jost said. “With which Trump could either mean we just invaded Mexico, or the McRib is back.”

Chance the Rapper returned to the stage to perform songs “Zanies and Fools” and “Handsome” with Megan Thee Stallion.
