Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's and CBS Films have equally brutal track records of late. Now they're hoping two wrongs will make a right.
Johnson stars as Driver in "Faster," a man fresh out of prison seeking revenge on the man who killed his brother, with a veteran cop (Billy Bob Thornton rocking an epic hairpiece) and a hitman (Oliver Jackson Cohen) hot on his heels.
The premise as laid out in the teaser is simple enough: Driver is pissed an he wants to hurt someone. It's good to see Johnson moving away from family fare like "Tooth Fairy" and "Race to Witch Mountain." The man does one thing well -- he hurts people. That's we want to see him doing on the big screen.
As for CBS Films, their first two efforts, "Extraordinary Measures" and "The Back-Up Plan" have a Rotten Tomatoes score of 48 -- combined. And "Beastly," which was to be their third feature has been pushed back from the summer/fall to March, never a good sign.
The film, which also stars Carla Gugino (where did her career go wrong?), Moon Bloodgood, Tom Berenger (in "Inception"! -- who'd've guessed) and Maggie Grace ("Lost").
