Gunman Takes Hostages at Kosher Market in Paris

A gunman took hostages at a kosher market near Porte de Vincennes in eastern central Paris on Friday, police said. The Paris prosecutor’s press officer confirmed to NBC News that there's a link between the hostage taker Amedy Coulibaly and the brothers thought to be behind Wednesday’s massacre at the office of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. Agnes Thibeau said Coulibaly is "known to French intelligence" and is "most probably" the person suspected in the fatal shooting of a policewoman on Thursday in Montrouge. The Associated Press, citing an unnamed police official, reported that the gunman was holding at least five people and had threatened to kill them if police stormed the printing plant 25 miles away where the brothers were believed holed up. Police also issued an alert for Hayat Boumeddiene, 26, in the officer's killing. Please check back for more on this developing story.
