Hollywood Heavy Hitters to Make Films for Oprah's New Network

What do Julia Roberts, Goldie Hawn, Forest Whitaker and Mariel Hemingway have in common? They're all big name stars who'll be producing films for Oprah Winfrey's forthcoming OWN cable network, according to the New York Daily News.

The Oprah Winfrey Network, set to launch in 2011, will benefit from a series of projects created by those stars and others as part of OWN's monthly "Documentary Film Club."

"All of these documentaries fundamentally explore human interaction, relationships and emotions," Lisa Erspamer, chief creative officer of OWN, said in a statement. "We're excited to provide viewers with new perspectives and new ways of looking at core themes that shape and affect their lives."

Roberts, who is about to star in the big-screen adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert's "Eat Pray Love," will produce "Extraordinary Moms," which will focus on mothers around the world who fight to create a better world for their children.

Whitaker's contribution will look at Louisiana's infamous Angola prison to follow the men who work in the hospice wing.

Another star, Gabriel Byrne, will consider homelessness in Nashville in "Tent City."

In addition to the documentaries, the network will feature a show in which Oprah conducts in-depth interviews, a possible reality show created by "Survivor" producer Mark Burnett and potentially a vehicle for the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson.
