9 Dead, 212 Injured in Buenos Aires Crashes

Nine people were killed and 212 injured in a train-bus-train crash in Buenos Aires Tuesday. The bus driver allegedly drove around barriers as he tried to beat the trains across the tracks during the early-morning rush hour, but his bus was hit by an oncoming train and crushed into a station platform, with the train flying off the tracks and hitting another going the other way. Trains move at street level through much of Argentina’s capital, and drivers often ignore warnings that one is approaching. Today’s bus driver was among the dead, but officials said the death toll could rise, as at least 50 people were critically injured, according to the Buenos Aires Herald.
