There will be among over 175 American Kennel Club-sanctioned breeds and varieties on hand as almost 2,000 dogs compete for the title of “Best in Show.”

The Kennel Club of Philadelphia’s National Dog Shows will introduce three new breeds – The Chinook, The Rat Terrier and The Portuguese Podengo Pequeno.
The event took place at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Montgomery County.
Purebred canines were on display for the public while competing for top honors.
The public gets the opportunity to interact with the dogs, learn about different breeds and talk with experts about owning a dog through the course of the day.
The Kennel Club of Philadelphia (KCP) and its predecessor clubs have been involved with dog shows since the Centennial Exposition in 1876, presenting dog shows since 1879.
The KCP has hosted the Philadelphia shows annually since 1933.
The show brings together some of the finest dogs in the world, with $20,000 in prize money and enormous prestige at stake.
NBC will televise coverage of the event as a two-hour special on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, immediately following the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
In addition to the competition, there's a spotlight on therapy dogs with the National Dog Show Therapy Dog Ambassadors program.
Actor John O'Hurley has hosted the dog show for the past 12 years.
Thousands will flock to the show from around the world and millions will watch the televised program.
When it's all said and done, and the show is over, it's time to rest and gear up for next year.
