The Mega Millions jackpot rolled once again on Tuesday night, reaching an estimated $415 million after no ticket matched all six numbers drawn.
The numbers drawn on Tuesday were: 15, 17, 20, 35, 55 plus Mega Ball 7.
The jackpot rose to $390 million ahead of Tuesday's drawing. But with no winning ticket sold, a $415 million or $286 million cash jackpot is up for grabs on Friday, July 1, just in time for the holiday weekend.
It's the third-largest prize in Mega Millions history and the biggest prize offered in the game since Dec. 17, 2013, when two tickets sold in California and Georgia split a $648 million jackpot.
The largest Mega Millions jackpot was won on March 30, 2012, when three tickets shared a $656 million prize.
The largest single-ticket jackpot was $326 million, which was won on Nov. 4, 2014.
Since Mega Millions began in 2002, there have been four jackpots won around the July 4 holiday:
- July 2, 2004: $294 million won in Massachusetts
- July 1, 2011: $107 million won in Virginia
- July 3, 2012: $85 million won in New York
- July 5, 2013: $79 million won in Michigan
The Mega Millions lottery is played in 44 states, including Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
