Man Who Died of Ebola in Nigeria Was American Citizen: Wife

The Ebola outbreak in west Africa has claimed its first American, a former Minnesota man working for the Liberian government. Patrick Sawyer, 40, collapsed July 20 in Lagos, Nigeria, after getting off a flight from Liberia. He was planning a visit home next month, his wife in Minnesota said. Sawyer was quarantined in a hospital before his death Friday and Liberia closed its border to try to contain the outbreak that has affected three West African nations.
