Todd Solondz's “Life During Wartime” Trailer Brings the Tragi-Comedy

Todd Solondz is back with yet another look a the neurosis gleefully eating away at our sanity with an ensemble piece starring some of the best second-line names in the business.

The new trailer for "Life During Watime" is as bleak/funny as you would hope/fear from Solondz, the writer-director who gave us "Happiness" and "Welcome to the Dollhouse."

The film stars Allison Janney, Michael K. Williams, Micheal Lerner, Paul (Pee Wee") Reubens, Charlotte Rampling, Ally Sheedy and Ciaran Hands. Here's the official synopsis:

Ten years have passed since shocking revelations shattered the world of the Jordan family, and now sisters Joy (Henderson), Trish (Janney), and Helen (Sheedy), each embroiled in their own unique dilemmas, struggle to find their place in an unpredictable and volatile world. The past now haunts their family both literally and otherwise, and jeopardizes the future. Alternately hilarious and tragic, outrageous and poignant, LIFE DURING WARTIME is an audacious comedy with unexpected resonance.

We were wildly disappointed by a clip that came out last week, but this trailer has rekindled our interest.

The film opens July 23.
