Legendary Roy Orbison Saluted By Artists From Around The World

Today marks the birthday of the legendary Roy Orbison and musicians around the world are celebrating his life and music at a concert and CD release launch. The songs will be available worldwide on iTunes on April 27. Orbison died in 1988.

The event will be hosted by Roy's family, Barbara, Roy and Alex Orbison and is supported by Epiphone Gibson in celebration of the upcoming launch the new Epiphone 12 String 'Pretty Woman' acoustic guitar – the Epiphone acoustic guitar was originally used by Roy when he penned that song.

A rock and roll pioneer with an unforgettable dynamic voice, Roy Orbison is being honored by some 30 new signed and unsigned artists who have recorded their rendition of Orbison classics and other songs.

"This is an event that Roy would have loved – to hear new voices sing his compositions," said Barbara Orbison, who conceived of the event along with AWOL's Denzyl Feigelson, to promote emerging musicians around the world.

"Supporting new artistic talent is something we are so happy to do in Roy's name. I would like to thank all our sponsors and particularly Henry Juszkiewicz, Gibson Guitar's Chairman and CEO, for all of his companies' support."

The recent box set Roy Orbison: The Soul of Rock & Roll, will also be made available for the first time on i-Tunes outside America.
