The last telegram in India was sent out on Sunday, marking the end of the communication service millions of Indians depended on for more than 160 years, The Associated Press reported. The telegram company said the prevalence of landlines, cell phones and emails have made telegrams obsolete. India's telecommunications ministry reported that in the past seven years, they lost $250 million prompting them to put a final end to the service. Still, hundred of people crowded to the remaining 75 telegraph offices on the last day to send their telegrams. Some sent messages to the minister of telecommunications pleading for the service to be continued.
