Krispy Kreme Apologizes After “KKK” Event Sparks Complaints

Krispy Kreme apologized Tuesday after one of its U.K. franchises promoted a "Krispy Kreme Klub" event — abbreviated as "KKK" — sparking anger and evoking comparisons to the U.S. white supremacist organization, CNBC reported. A Krispy Kreme store in the English town of Hull had scheduled an event called "KKK Wednesday," sharing the abbreviation commonly associated in the U.S. with the Ku Klux Klan. A company spokesperson told CNBC in an email that the company is "truly sorry for any inconvenience or offence this misstep may have caused our fans."
