On last night’s "SNL," host Hathaway portrayed Holmes on “The Miley Cyrus Show” and did an impression of the actress down to Holmes’ voice and actions. She endured a barrage of questions, including ones about her film roles, Tom Cruise and Scientology from exuberant host Miley Cyrus (Vanessa Bayer).
Hathaway appeared very excited about returning to "SNL" and it showed in the sketches she appeared in. She played newly-engaged Kate Middleton who meets a highly confrontational Queen Elizabeth II (Fred Armisen) and Prince Philip (Bill Hader). The highlight of that skit was when Phillip remarked, “This ain’t ‘The Princess Diaries,’” a reference to Hathaway’s early movie.

The actress also played Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz,” whose supposedly deleted scenes featured the character the Weather Vane (Armisen), whose goal is to look for an apartment. Hathaway also played an annoyed soup kitchen coordinator in one skit, and in another she belted out a rock tune as a convincing Alanis Morissette.
In her opening monologue, Hathaway said that her upcoming movie, “Love and Other Drugs,” has garnered buzz because of the nude scenes, and supported an actress’ right to be naked if it preserves the intergrity of the movie. That prompted some of “SNL”’s eager male cast members to tell Hathaway that changes in the sketches will require her to be nude, to which she consented. (She was kidding, of course).
Other notable moments on the program included a sexy commercial featuring male TSA workers. On Weekend Update, Food Network’s Guy Fieri (Bobby Moynihan) dropped by to talk about Thanksgiving food; Four Loko creator Chris Hunter (Jason Sudeikis) addressed the beverage’s controversy and introduced a new drink called the Amy Winehouse; and “SNL” cast member Jay Pharaoh performed several Thanksgiving hip-hop songs in the voices of Jay-Z, Drake and the Notorious B.I.G.
The musical guest last night was British act Florence and the Machine.
“Saturday Night Live” will return on Dec. 4 with Robert De Niro as host and musical act Diddy-Dirty Money.
