Thousands Protest Immigration Crackdown in Wisconsin ‘Day Without Latinos'

This was the second 'Day Without Latinos' organized in the state

Thousands of activists participated in a "Day Without Latinos" in Wisconsin on Monday, NBC News reported. The protest was an attempt to prevent Milwaukee County Sherriff David Clarke from cracking down on undocumented immigrants.

People from at least 12 cities across the state traveled to take part in the march, organized by Hispanic advocacy group Voces de la Frontera.

People were advised to not go to school or work, to close businesses and to avoid making purchases. Protesters marched from Voces de la Frontera’s offices to the Milwaukee County Courthouse.

The first "Day Without Latinos" was organized last year in Madison by the same group.
