Opposition Leader Macri Wins Argentina's Presidential Election

Conservative opposition candidate Mauricio Macri won Argentina’s presidential election Sunday, Reuters reported.

Macri had 53 percent of the votes to ruling party candidate Daniel Scioli’s 47 percent.

Macri had gone into the runoff election with a comfortable lead in opinion polls over Scioli, the candidate of outgoing President Cristina Fernandez.

Macri promised business-friendly reforms to spur growth in the struggling economy and to set Latin America’s third-largest economy on a more free-market course, according to Reuters.
