A man wearing a hardhat robbed a store in the Bronx after he was denied a refund for shoes he had purchased there, police said.
The robbery happened at the Forever 99 variety store at 1560 Westchester Avenue in Soundview around 12:30 p.m. Friday.
Police say the suspect demanded a refund for a pair of sneakers that he had purchased at the store. When he was told that he could only exchange the sneakers, he allegedly walked behind the counter and stole $600 in cash from the register.
A 36-year-old man tried to prevent the suspect from leaving the store by blocking an exit, but was shoved to the ground, police said. The suspect then got in a white Nissan Altima and took off down Westchester Avenue.
The man who was shoved to the ground was not injured.
