Florida Woman: Driver's License Mistakenly ID'd Me as Sex Offender

An Orlando-area woman says she plans to file a defamation lawsuit after she was issued a driver's license that mistakenly labeled her a sexual predator.

Tammy Lemasters said Thursday that she has already filed a notice of intent to sue the Lake County Tax Collector's office, near Orlando.

The tax collector's office serves as an agent for the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles in issuing driver's licenses.

The mother of three teenagers says she will return to the office Thursday to get a new license.

She says she's been embarrassed to use the license when cashing checks at stores, and she says she recently was turned away when she tried to check into a hotel.

Lake County Tax Collector Bob McKee said he couldn't immediately comment.
