Five Guys Reps Call Miami Beach Fight Caught on Camera ‘Simply Unacceptable'

Representatives for Five Guys restaurant chain are speaking out after video surfaced of a huge fight at their Miami Beach location, calling the brawl "simply unacceptable."

The incident happened at the Five Guys location at 1500 Washington Avenue near 15th Street in Miami Beach.

It's unclear what sparked the fight, but the video shows a female patron and several employees involved. Dozens of customers were inside the store when it happened, many recording the incident with their cellphones.

According to a witness, the woman was being loud and drunk, but didn't get physical. The employees hit her with cups and then things started to escalate.

Cellphone video of the fight was posted to Facebook Monday afternoon. It generated more than 1,000 shares and more than 300 comments.

Five Guys area supervisor Tina Holley released the following statement to NBC 6 via email:

The actions displayed in this video are simply unacceptable. We are working with the franchise owner to do a full investigation and ensure appropriate disciplinary actions are taken.

Miami Beach police said they didn't receive any calls to their dispatch center from the location over the fight.

"Safety is our number one priority. As always, anyone who witnesses any sort of criminal activity or disturbance is urged to call police immediately," said Ernesto Rodriguez with Miami Beach police.

"It brings attention to the people of Miami Beach," said Mayor Phillip Levine, who was campaigning for re-election on Tuesday. "Let us move forward to clean Washington Avenue up and clean Ocean Drive up."

When asked what's being done to prevent disorder on the beach, Mayor Levine said a two-year plan is already in place.

"The people that have the commercial interest on Ocean Drive, that are fighting against this, that don't want us to clean it up, the people will push them and make them understand we must do it," Levine said.
