Sentencing Postponed 4th Time for Convicted Child Rapist Christina Regusters

The sentencing for convicted child rapist Christina Regusters was postponed a fourth time Friday.

The former day care worker was convicted of brutally raping a 5-year-old in Philadelphia.

Regusters faces a life sentence after she was convicted of child rape at her three-week high-profile September trial.

The 21-year-old was convicted of abducting the kindergartner from her elementary school in Cobbs Creek, hid her under a bed at a nearby home and sexually assaulting her with a sharp object.

Regusters posed as the girl’s mother and signed the child out of Bryant Elementary School in the city’s Cobbs Creek Section on Jan. 14, 2013.

The former day care worker then led the girl into a nearby home and put her in a laundry bag to carry her upstairs. The entire ordeal lasted 19 hours, prosecutors said. The child was dumped in an Upper Darby park, where she was found by a passer-by wearing only a T-shirt.

The girl, who was severely injured in the attack, testified during the emotional and graphic three-week trial. Regusters and her attorney argued during the trial that she may have been involved in the kidnapping, but did not sexually assault the girl.

A lawsuit was filed by attorney Tom Kline against the School District of Philadelphia seeking damages for the child.
