48 More Arrests Made as Protests Continue in Louisiana

Among those arrested Saturday was DeRay Mckesson, a prominent leader of the Black Lives Matter movement

Dozens more people were arrested Sunday night as protests continued in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, following the fatal police shooting of Alton Sterling last week, authorities told NBC News.

At least 48 people had been were taken into custody by midnight Sunday, said Casey Rayborn Hicks, a spokeswoman for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office. The new arrests followed more than 100 others that were made Saturday.

Among those arrested Saturday was DeRay Mckesson, a prominent leader of the Black Lives Matter movement. Mckesson, who was released Sunday, live-streamed his arrest on Periscope.
