26-Year Sentence For San Jose Teen in “Thrill Kill” Slaying

One of the two killers convicted of killing a 15-year old California boy for "thrills" was sentenced to 26 years to life in prison on Thursday.

The San Jose Mercury News reports Jae Williams, 20, may serve the rest of his life behind bars for the 2009 stabbing death of Michael Russell in 2009.

Williams has been in jail since he offered a video-taped confession two days after the murder that he did the deed "just for thrills," the newspaper reported.

"I guess I just finally wanted to kill somebody. I had my chance and took it," Williams confessed on video.

He was 15-years-old at the time of the crime, but was tried as an adult. His May trial lasted one month and the jury took one day to render a verdict.

A second trial for Randy Thompson, accused of helping to plan and carry out the killing, is scheduled for next year.

The judge had to choose either from probation or the life term under state law, according to the newspaper.
