Police searching for dark-colored sedan in connection with Mesquite shooting

A 19-year-old woman is expected to be OK after being shot in the head during an apparent road rage incident early Monday morning in Mesquite.

Police said the woman was driving along Interstate 30 near LBJ Freeway when she was shot at about 1:15 a.m. The woman was hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life threatening and she's expected to recover.

Lt. Brian Parrish, with the Mesquite Police Department, said the shot came from a dark-colored 4-door sedan, possibly a Hyundai, with dark windows.

Police revealed no further details or motive in the shooting. Parrish said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

The shooting in Mesquite took place about 7 hours after a 19-year-old man was killed and his girlfriend was wounded in a road rage shooting in South Arlington.

Police are looking for a black, 4-door sedan, with dark windows and silver rims, in connection with the Arlington shooting. Though the vehicle descriptions are similar in both cases, police have not said if they are related.
