Woman Sentenced for Husband's Death

A San Antonio-area woman was sentenced to 20 years in prison after admitting to fatally shooting her husband.

The San Antonio Express-News reported that 44-year-old Stacie Voigt Etzel was found guilty of murder Wednesday in the 2011 shooting death of 51-year-old Terry Lee Etzel at their home in the D'Hanis community, located 50 miles west of San Antonio.

Medina County District Attorney Danny Kindred said Stacie Etzel was sentenced Friday to 20 years for murder and to 10 years for tampering with evidence. She'll serve the sentences concurrently.

Defense witnesses said Terry Etzel threatened to kill Stacie Etzel, members of her family and then himself.

Kindred was dismissive of the threats attributed to Terry Etzel. He said no evidence from the scene backed the defendant's evolving accounts of what happened.
