Man Fatally Wounded in Shooting on Interstate 30 in Garland

A man critically wounded in a shooting on Interstate 30 in Garland earlier this month has died, police say.

The shooting happened on westbound I-30 near Northwest Highway at about 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 14. Police said the driver of a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche, identified as 37-year-old Christopher Shannon, had been shot several times.

Shannon was transported to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition.

The Dallas Medical Examiner's Office notified Garland police that Shannon had died from his injuries.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and police have not yet revealed a motive.

"We don't know if this was road rage at this time or a shooting related to another incident," Garland police spokesman Lt. Pedro Barineau said. "Our detectives will attempt to speak with the victim this morning to find out more."
