First Alert Weather: Winter Returns

Mix of Rain, Sleet and Snow Sunday night into Monday AM

If you thought we'd escape winter without any winter weather, think again.

The NBC 5 First Alert Weather Team expects a mix of rain, sleet and even snow in parts of North Texas tonight into tomorrow morning.

The National Weather Service has issued A Winter Weather Advisory from Sunday at 6:00 p.m. until Monday at 9:00 a.m.

It is in effect along and NorthWest of a line from Eastland to Weatherford to Denton to Paris. Sleet and snow is expected to accumulate up to an inch in Northwest portions of the advisory. And up to a half inch in Southeast portions of the advisory.

Some models project the wintery mix falling as far south as Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, Parker, Rockwall and Kaufman counties.  Temperatures are expected to stay above freezing.

Road conditions in the north and west portions of our viewing areas may see some slick spots or have issues with overpasses and bridges. Road conditions closer to the Dallas-Fort Worth area may see more rain than wintery preciptitation.

NBC 5 Today will have up to the minute road, weather and school reports Monday starting at 4:30 a.m.
