Wife Arrested for Fatally Shooting Husband

The Parker County Sheriff's Department said a woman shot and killed her husband in their home on Monday.

Katherine Kuehner, 53, was arrested and charged with murder after allegedly shooting her husband, 51-year-old Curtis Kuehner.

The shooting happened in the 3000 block of Dusk Drive in rural Parker County, just outside Weatherford around 3:15 p.m. Monday.

Sheriff Larry Fowler said deputies arrived on scene to find Curtis Kuehner dead in the living room of the couple's home. He appeared to suffer a fatal gun shot to the head, though the official manner of death is pending an autopsy.

Fowler said Katherine Kuehner was arrested at the scene and implicated herself in the shooting, but later refused to talk to investigators and asked for a lawyer. She has not been questioned since asking for an attorney, Fowler said.

Investigators collected a .357 revolver suspected to be the murder weapon as well as another handgun to be submitted as evidence.

In a mug shot released by Parker County after her arrest, Katherine Kuehner is seen with a large bruise around her left eye. That injury prompted NBC 5's Jeff Smith to ask Sheriff Fowler if an incident of domestic violence led to the shooting.

“Well, it’d be a fair assumption to think that, and we think it may be something along those lines especially considering the history we’ve had at that location, but we can’t know for sure," Fowler said. "She’s not talking to us.”

Deputies confirmed that they had been to the home "several times" for domestic incidents. Investigators said there is a history of domestic calls to the residence dating back to 2010 in which the individuals did not wish to cooperate with deputies and refused to press charges.

Later Tuesday, deputies plan to interview the couples' neighbors.

A bond for Kuehner had not been set as of Tuesday morning.
