Four motorcyclists were injured in a chain-reaction crash on Sunday afternoon. Police in Balch Springs initially said an 18-wheeler hit five motorcyclists. Later, police said an SUV hit one motorcyclists and three others were hurt trying to avoid the wreck.
The incident occured just before 4 p.m. at I-20 near U.S. 175, according to the Balch Springs Police Department. Two of the motorcyclists was taken to a hospital by helicopter, while the other two were transported by ground.
Police said the extent of the injuries to those involved was unknown.
Officers said a group of motorcycle riders was speeding on the I-20. The driver of an SUV told police she panicked as the riders sped around her vehicle and tried to change lanes. She clipped one rider. Three others were hurt after crashing their bikes while trying to avoid the crash, police said.

No one else was hurt. The SUV driver remained on scene and cooperated with police. Police said they do not expect to file any criminal charges or issue any citations in this wreck.
