Westbound I-635 Reopens After Fuel Spill

The westbound lanes of Interstate 635 is open again at Abrams Road after a closure due to a fuel spill.

Officials have not confirmed the cause of the spill, but it appeared a tractor-trailer jackknifed and damaged it's fuel tanks, spilling the gas onto the roadway.

No injuries have been reported.

The cab and trailer were removed from the roadway first, then barrels containing the spilled fuel were removed from the highway.

Drivers were diverted at Skillman Street. The backup was estimated to reach about five miles at its peak.
