Fort Worth's signature bridge is ready for traffic.
The West Seventh Street bridge connecting downtown Fort Worth to the west side of the city is set to reopen to traffic Wednesday, nearly a full month ahead of schedule.
The $25 million bridge is the only one of its kind in the world. It is a precast concrete structure that measures 981 feet long and 81 feet wide.
City leaders officially dedicated the rebuilt bridge on Wednesday evening.
The old bridge, which spanned the Trinity River for 100 years, was demolished in June.
Business owners along the Seventh Street corridor said they have taken significant financial hits while the bridge was shut down.
Construction of the replacement bridge was scheduled for completion in early November. But, with the exception of sidewalk work that is expected to last a few more weeks, the construction company completed the work early, TxDOT said.
