With no Powerball jackpot winner Saturday, the $380 multistate jackpot is rolling over to Wednesday and is now worth an estimated $500 million -- the fifth largest jackpot in history.
The cash value option of Wednesday's drawing, before taxes, is $337.8 million.
To play Powerball, players choose five numbers from a field of 1 to 59 plus one Powerball number from a separate field of 1 to 35. If no winning jackpot numbers are selected Wednesday, the jackpot will roll even higher before Saturday.
The latest estimated jackpot exceeds Powerball's last major jackpot from February 2014 when it climbed to $425 million.
The jackpot is closing in on the largest Powerball jackpot ever awarded, $591 million won on May 18, 2013 by one person. The largest jackpot in U.S. history was a $656 million Mega Millions jackpot won on March 30, 2012 by three players.
Wednesday's Powerball drawing will be held at 9:59 p.m. and tickets cost $2 each.
