Waco Band Teacher Accused of Having Sex With Student

A Central Texas band teacher is facing criminal charges after authorities say he had a sexual relationship with a female student.

Former Waco High School assistant band director Jason Hodges is charged with having an inappropriate teacher-student relationship, indecency with a child and possession of marijuana.

The Waco Tribune-Herald reports school officials say they first learned of the accusations against Hodges on Jan. 12, and that he resigned the same day.

Police say Hodges and the student had sex in the school's music room over Christmas break. While searching Hodges' home, police say they found multiple glass pipes and buds of marijuana.

Superintendent Bonny Cain says the school district will advocate for Hodges' teaching credentials to be rescinded.

It wasn't immediately clear if Hodges had an attorney yet.
