Victim Shot Three Times in Robbery

Two arrested in connection with robbery, shooting

Two people have been arrested and police are looking for a third after two separate robberies and a shooting left one man in critical condition early Tuesday morning.

Just before midnight Tuesday, a man at the Sedona Ridge Apartments on the 11000 block of Walnut Hill Lane was confronted by several men who demanded property, police said. When the man said he didn't have anything, someone shot him three times -- once in the stomach, hand and leg.

The man was left for dead but managed to get to an apartment, call 911 and describe for police the car driven by his attackers. The man was eventually transported to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas where he underwent surgery and remains in critical condition.

Meanwhile, police spotted a car matching the man's description and tried to conduct a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle refused and led police on a short chase. Near Walnut Hill Lane and Ferndale Road, the driver stopped and three men ran from the car as the vehicle rolled into a utility box.  During their escape, someone dropped a jacket that a police dog was able to use to guide officers to an alley three blocks away.

A short time later, two men were taken into custody. They were later identified by police as 19-year-old LaDavid Sims and 25-year-old Michael Wafer, both of whom have now been charged with aggravated robbery and evading arrest.

During their investigation, police said the vehicle involved in the short chase was reported stolen following an aggravated robbery earlier in the evening where 57-year-old Michael Jackson was robbed of his car, wallet, mobile phone, a computer generator, presciption glasses and $40 in cash. Inside of that vehicle, police said they found some the shooting victim's missing property.

Police are still looking for one other man, believed to be around 18-years-old,  who is also wanted in connection with the robbery and shooting.
