Car Crashes in Street Race, Child Unrestrained Inside: Police

A 20-year-old woman was charged with child endangerment after police said she was in a street race with a child unrestrained inside the car.

Dallas police responded to a call about a crash on southbound U.S. 75 near Linfield Road at about 1 a.m. Monday.

Police said a woman β€” later identified as Keirra Beatty β€” was racing another vehicle when she lost control and went off the road. The car ended up striking a wooden telephone pole.

A 13-month-old child was unrestrained in the back seat being held by a passenger, according to police. The child was taken to Medical City Children's Hospital and was not injured.

Police said Beatty was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and is being charged with child endangerment.
