Utility Worker Death in Waco Now Investigated as Murder

The body of 61-year-old Kenneth Wayne Cleveland was found Friday near a ladder

The burn-related death of a Central Texas utility worker while on duty has been classified as a murder.

Waco police on Monday announced the death of the AT&T worker, whose burned body was found at a job site, was not electrocution as first thought. The body of 61-year-old Kenneth Wayne Cleveland, of Hewitt, was discovered Friday near a ladder.

Sgt. Patrick Swanton says the death has now been attributed to what police call "violent injuries." Swanton did not elaborate.

Waco police are asking anyone who might have additional information on the death to contact investigators. Police say callers do not have to reveal their identities.
